Active in Indiana

Firm's Practice Group Ranks 35th Nationally

Ice Miller LLP announced today the Firm has been recognized as the 35th most active law Firm in the nation based on the number of private equity and venture capital deals negotiated and closed on in 2005. The ranking, by Dow Jones, appeared in the 2006 Guide to Venture Capital and Private Equity Attorneys. According to the ranking, Ice Miller secured the top spot in Indiana and eighth overall in the Midwest. The Firm closed a total of 45 deals in 2005. The Dow Jones ranking cited Ice Miller's representation of HH Gregg in its acquisition by Freeman Spogli through a $315 million debt and equity recapitalization transaction.

"The ranking elevates the standing of Ice Miller in the venture capital and private equity community," stated John Thornburgh, co-chair of the Firm's Private Equity/Venture Services Practice Group. "To be recognized as leaders in our field is a testament to the work of the partners and associates who have negotiated deals on behalf of our clients."

Ice Miller currently represents approximately 80 percent of the private equity funds (seed, venture, mezzanine, and buy-out funds) and a number of the more active individual "angel" investors, located in Indiana. Fund clients include Centerfield Capital, Cardinal Ventures, CID Equity Partners and Gazelle TechVentures. In addition, Ice Miller is the Midwest private equity counsel for a substantial number of funds located outside of Indiana.
