Full Biography: Wayne McClain III
Wayne McClain's primary area of law is employee benefits with a concentration in qualified and non-qualified retirement plans. His practice includes work with 401(a) plans, 401(k) plans, 403(b) plans, 457(b) and 457(f) plans, executive compensation, early retirement incentives, fiduciary duties, ERISA compliance, and health and welfare plans.
Prior to joining Ice Miller, Mr. McClain managed the administration of retirement plans at Indiana University. Responsibilities included developing and managing a variety of defined benefit, defined contribution and nonqualified retirement plans; ensuring plan compliance with applicable federal and state laws; managing relationships with external investment companies; managing Indiana University’s relationship with the Indiana Public Employees’ Retirement Fund; and developing and presenting retirement plan and investment educational materials, presentations and seminars to employee groups.
Prior to joining Indiana University, Mr. McClain was a retirement plan attorney at a national insurance company headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. McClain’s responsibilities included resolving retirement plan compliance issues for the nationwide sales force; design, implementation, and administration of 401(a), 401(k), 403(b), and 457(b) retirement plans; drafting plan documents and related materials; research and analysis of complex legal issues; and training company employees on retirement plan compliance.
Prior to joining the insurance company, Mr. McClain was in private practice. Mr. McClain's primary area of law was employee benefits, including qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, 403(b) plans, 401(a) plans, deferred compensation and 457 plans, welfare plans, executive compensation, early retirement incentives, stock option plans, and health and welfare plans.
Mr. McClain is a graduate of Indiana University, The Philadelphia Institute, and the Indiana University School of Law. He is admitted to practice law in the State of Indiana and before the United States District Court – Northern and Southern Districts.
