Simulex, Inc.
Located in Purdue University's Research Park, Simulex takes gaming technology to a whole new level. Simulex’s Synthetic Environments for Analysis and Simulation (SEAS) software engine starts with video game technology and combines it with the latest thinking in management, economics, and psychology to provide business, governments - even the military - with useful behavior or situational modeling tools. In other words, Simulex helps its customers predict how others (including governments, organizations and the general public) will likely respond to various situations, including terrorist attacks.
SEAS is the brainchild of Dr. Alok R. Chaturvedi who along with Dr. Shailendra Raj Mehta developed and patented this technology while on the faculty of Purdue University. Dr. Chaturvedi and Dr. Mehta in 1999 licensed the technology from Purdue and started Simulex. In 2007, Dr. Chaturvedi was awarded Purdue's Outstanding Commercialization Award, and the award was well deserved indeed as Simulex has enjoyed remarkable growth since 1999.
Ice Miller is fortunate to have worked with Simulex for several years as its leaders have converted this exciting research into a multi-million dollar company with customers throughout the world. Along the way, Simulex has turned to Ice Miller for assistance with multiple general corporate, finance, labor and employment, intellectual property, international and export control issues.
Quite simply, Simulex is an award-winning example of an Indiana high-tech start-up company whose technology was developed at one of Indiana's great universities and then successfully commercialized resulting in new Indiana jobs and an impressive return for Purdue University.
